Getting rid of unwanted fat can be a challenge for anyone. Certain areas of our body just won’t let the fat go away even if you follow a consistent exercise schedule. One of the new methods plastic surgeons are using to address this is CoolSculpting. WKOW 27 takes a look at this in a recent article titled “A ‘cool’ way to eliminate unwanted fat.”
Caroline Bach of WKOW 27 writes, “This story may sound too good to be true. An FDA approved treatment can eliminate your fat while you sit and relax. A commonly known version of the process is CoolSculpting. Patients have enjoyed the quick treatment because it requires no needles or surgery. Here’s a little catch though. ‘It’s not for weight loss,’ says Anne Pientka, RN. Pientka is a nurse who has been CoolSculpting at Radiance Skin Therapy and Laser Center in Madison for four and a half years. She says patients need to be diligent with diet and exercise already. ‘It is for people who have healthy lifestyles, who have a pocket of fat here or there that they don’t like, and they would never have surgery for it.’ CoolSculpting is a version of cryolipolysis, a process that freezes and kills only the fat cells in the targeted area. The patient undergoing treatment during this story wanted to remain anonymous, but told us it felt like someone was grabbing her arm. ‘It feels like I’m getting pinched,’ she says. It was comfortable enough for her to sit and work on her computer while the CoolSculpting was being applied.”
CBS Pittsburgh also explores CoolSculpting in a recent article titled “Angie’s List Puts Cryolipolisis To The Test.” According to the author of the article, “‘It’s ideal for people that just have those stubborn spots. Maybe it’s the love handles, a muffin top; inner thighs that they just don’t like or maybe they want a little inner thigh gap, the new trendy thing,’ Kaler said. A special applicator is strapped to the treatment area. It chills the skin and, over time, freezes and kills the fat cells in that area before they are naturally eliminated. There are no needles, no anesthesia and no recovery time. Professional trainer Art Brock supports the procedure for people on a good nutrition and exercise plan, but who have age or metabolism working against them.”
If you’re considering CoolSculpting, you need a surgeon you can trust. Rex E. Moulton-Barrett, M.D. is internationally known and acknowledged. He is board certified with The American Board of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and The American Board of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery.
With Dr. Moulton-Barrett’s CoolSculpting procedure, there is no required recovery time and many patients are able to immediately resume their daily activities without a hindrance caused by surgery. Generally, you may start to see changes as quickly as three weeks after your treatment, and will experience the most dramatic results after one to three months.
