What is Thighplasty?

A thigh lift, or thighplasty, is a surgical procedure that removes excess skin from the inner thigh to create a slimmer, toner appearance. This procedure can tighten loose skin on the thigh and smooth out the skin so there is a smooth appearance. Patients who have lost large amounts of weight and have loose, sagging skin are typically good candidates for this surgery. Dr. Rex Moulton-Barrett offers thighplasty at his Bay Area practice.

What to expect during the Thighplasty procedure?

Prior to the surgery, it is important to quit smoking and prepare a recovery area for yourself at home. Dr. Moulton-Barrett will let you know if you need to adjust your diet or medications to prepare for the thigh lift. On the day of your surgery, you will be put under anesthesia to manage discomfort. This procedure takes about two hours to complete. There are three different thigh lift techniques that could be done, based on your needs and goals.

What to expect during the recovery for the Thighplasty procedure?

After your thigh lift procedure, your thigh will be fitted with a compression garment to hold the tissues in place, reduce swelling, promote blood circulation, and aid in overall recovery. There may be some swelling and bruising in the area which settles in four to five weeks. Any pain can be easily controlled with medication. The length of downtime will change for each patient and will depend on the extent of your procedure.
