Summer is here. This means it is swimsuit season. A lot of people want to have smooth skin to show off along with their suits and beach bodies. Today Style takes a look at this in a recent article titled “Get smooth for summer with hair removal tips that work!

Aly Walansky of Today Style has a number of suggestions, including laser hair removal. She writes, “Laser treatments work wonders on areas that are sensitive, says Medlock. The intense beam stunts the hair follicle, which reduces ingrown hairs and irritation. Smaller areas usually come with a more attainable price point as well. This could make it a good option for underarms, for example, but should also be considered for lips and chins. ‘As we age, individual dark hairs start to sprout up on the upper lip and under the chin. Waxing takes all of the hair from the areas where it is applied, sometimes leaving a line of demarcation. The laser is made to seek out the dark hairs specifically, clearing the hair without making it obvious,’ says Medlock. The more contrast you have between you hair color and your skin tone, the better the laser works. If you have light hair with light skin or dark hair with dark skin, you may not be a prime candidate for laser.”

The Huffington Post also discusses the benefits of laser hair removal in a recent article titled “Discover Laser Hair Removal for Confidence and Convenience.” Barbara Aleks Hecht of the Huffington Post writes, “I went into my first session with Gloria slightly terrified. (Keep in mind I have a very low pain threshold.) When she started the lasering, I felt a slight pinching or heat. ‘No problem,’ said Gloria, as she turned down the machine. Presto. No heat, no pinching, no nothing: 100 per cent completely pain-free. On all regions. The lady didn’t lie. Ah, but what about the results? Gloria said I’d start seeing results in a few weeks. Right again. I started to notice less and less hair after each shave. And now, five weeks after my first session, we’ve decided to postpone the second session for a couple of weeks, until I see a bit more hair growth. Honestly, I’m truly amazed — especially since she worked on an area that hadn’t previously been lasered.”

If you’re looking into laser hair removal, you need a surgeon you can count on. Rex E. Moulton-Barrett M.D. is internationally known and acknowledged. He is board certified with The American Board of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and The American Board of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery.

With Dr. Moulton-Barrett, laser hair removal is more than just zapping unwanted hair. If you are considering undergoing laser hair removal, you should limit plucking, waxing, and electrolysis for six weeks before treatment. This is because the laser targets the hairs’ roots, which are temporarily removed by waxing or plucking.

For most cases, laser removal slows hair re-growth, but it takes several treatments to provide an extended hair-free period. Minimal pain is experienced and no anesthesia is required.
