Recent studies suggest plastic surgery can not just have an effect on how you feel about yourself, but that it can also affect how others perceive your personality. The Huffington Post explores this in a recent article titled “Plastic Surgery Can Change The Way People Perceive Your Personality.”

Carolyn Gregoire of the Huffington Post writes, “A study published last week in the journal JAMA Facial Plastic Surgery found that women who underwent facial rejuvenation surgery were perceived to be not only more attractive but also more likeable than they were before the surgery. The findings illustrate a phenomenon known as ‘facial profiling,’ a sort of cognitive shortcut we use to collect information about other people based on available visual cues, namely, their facial expressions… It’s well-known in psychology that humans have a natural tendency to judge people’s character based on their appearance. Studies have shown that we make judgements about a person’s character within seconds of seeing their face for the first time — and these judgments tend to be consistent with the way other people judge the same face. As the new study shows, these perceptions can be manipulated by plastic surgery, which changes the appearance of a person’s resting facial expression.”

Modern Medicine Network also discusses the impact of plastic surgery on people’s perception of your personality in a recent article titled “Does facial enhancement make your patients more likable?” Bill Gillette of Modern Medicine Network writes, “When the researchers scored the eight evaluated traits, they found four registered as statistically significant improvements post-op over pre-op: likeability, social skills, attractiveness and femininity. Improvement in scores for the traits of perceived trustworthiness, aggressiveness, extroversion and risk-seeking registered no statistically significant change. The authors conclude that facial plastic surgery does indeed alter ways in which patients are perceived by others — and does so far beyond making them look younger.”

If you’re interested in facial enhancement surgery, such as an eyebrow lift, you need a surgeon you can trust. Rex E. Moulton-Barrett, M.D. is internationally known and acknowledged. He holds the rare distinction of being board certified in two distinct surgical specialties, The American Board of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and The American Board of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery.

The eyebrow lift procedure performed by Dr. Moulton-Barrett elevates the sagging portions of the eyebrows and restores a youthful and refreshed appearance. Following the procedure, the muscles between the eyebrows that cause frown lines can be released to create a softer look. This classic lift involves cosmetic surgery, by using one continuous cut beginning at the level of your ears and going up around your hairline.
