What is Bellafill?

Bellafill® is a new breed of dermal filler that offers longer lasting results than other cosmetic filler injections. Bellafill® is made of polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) microspheres (miniature beads) that are suspended in bovine collagen. Each Bellafill injection is a mixture of bovine collagen, which provides immediate support, and biocompatible microspheres, which provide lasting support. These microspheres have been used in medical applications for more than 60 years. They create a microscopic ‘matrix’ to support your body’s own natural collagen production, and ultimately strengthen the layers of the skin. This provides the support your skin needs for wrinkle correction and younger looking skin. Which means results that are lasting.

What to expect during the Wrinkle Reduction procedure?

Bellafill® will be injected directly beneath the wrinkle to add permanent support to smoothen the area. Because the injection contains lidocaine, a local anesthetic, little discomfort is felt during injection. The anti-aging treatment usually requires only 15-20 minutes, but two treatment sessions may be necessary to achieve full wrinkle correction. The treatments are typically performed three to six weeks apart.

What to expect during the recovery for the Bellafill?

Bellafill® treatments are similar to those observed with other dermal fillers, and include mild swelling and reddening at the treatment site. These side effects usually resolve within 24 hours. Occasionally, there is mild bruising that typically disappears in 3 to 7 days. Less common side effects include rash and itching, persistent swelling or redness, and increased sensitivity at injection sites. A skin test is required before initial treatment to make sure the patient is not sensitive to bovine collagen.
