Juvederm, approved by the FDA in 2006 as a dermal filler, has a smooth consistency gel made of hyaluronic acid—a substance naturally occurring in your skin that helps to add structure, volume, and hydration. The body's ability to produce hyaluronic acid diminishes with age, but hyaluronic acid fillers are able to restore skin volume and appearance. Juvederm is injected into the mid to deep dermis to instantly restore your skin's volume and smooth away moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds, like your "smile lines" (nasolabial folds—the creases that run from the bottom of your nose to the corners of your mouth). Juvederm's pliant gel consistency provides a smooth, natural-looking appearance. The injection process takes about 15 minutes and results are immediate. There is minimal recovery or downtime, so you can step into our office for treatment and step right back into your life. Juvederm maintains the improved appearance for six to nine months.
